Shopping in Sri Lanka is definately worthwhile. Firstly, a LOT of Name Brand Apparel is manufactured here in Super Sri Lanka, and is sold in certain "factory outlets" for only a fraction of the cost abroad! Secondly, Gems and Jewellry is mined and manufactured here, and is much, much cheaper than buying it in western countries. The only thing to remember, is that with Jewellry shopping, one has to bargain the price down to about 50% of the original asking price, and this also applies to most items at roadside shops and markets.
